It has been a great year of learning with your student. This year we improved in our areas of reading, writing, and math while having fun, engaging, and many individualized activities.
Students were able to do a lot of interactive learning through the use of our iPads and computers in the classrooms. The students completed an adjective hunt and edited pictures they took to use adjectives to describe the pictures they took.
We did a lot on individualized lessons on MobyMax (which students can still use at home over the summer. Please, feel free to contact me over the summer if you need help accessing MobyMax. Some students even improved 1 years growth this year in reading or math.
Several students explored things on our Wonder Wall on Padlet. We explored what chocolate was and how it was made. Learning about how chocolate is made out of cocoa get the students interested in the environment where cocoa is grown, the rain forest.
While practicing our skills of writing complete sentences by writing about a bird that was brought to life using colAR, several students questions what type of bird that was. Through research and help from connecting with the creator on Twitter, we learned that the name of that bird was the Pukeko. That is when the students started doing research on what a Pukeko.
We also did some great activities with our Maymester student from Albion College this year. Students learned about maps, directions, a place they would like to go, and how to make a brochures.
Thanks for a wonderful year. Please, read with your child at home. If you spend time reading over the summer, it is less likely that they will loss progress they made in reading this year. I hope to see your students this summer during summer school.
