I told my students Tuesday that I would be out of the building on Friday due to presenting at a conference. I presented about Co-Teaching and Technology with one of my co-teachers. I wanted the students to have ownership of what they have learned through the use technology. So, I decided that I would have some students explain how Front Row and IXL works. IXL is a tool that is primarily used by the 4th and 5th grade. The 4th graders are the only ones in grades 3-5 that use Front Row at this time. Front Row is a new website we learned about this year. We use Front Row and IXL in our co-taught classroom rotations in Mrs. Fisher's room. Students are always very engaged when they are using these tools.
The 4th grade students that I asked were so excited. Everyone wanted to be apart of the video. I told the other students that I would try to have where everyone be apart of a video later in the year. The students that created a video on these tools did a fantastic job. We had to do several practice runs but they mastered it and were able to do a complete recording with very little errors. I am so impressed by what these guys can do!
Below I have attached the links to IXL and Front Row. Students can access these tools at home through their devices by using their username they were given by their general education teacher. The general education teacher and myself will be able to see the students progress on either of these websites on our teacher page.
